FAQ: FAQ

WHEN SHOULD MY PUPPY COME IN FOR ITS FIRST GROOM?

  • It is important to have your puppy groomed so they can get used to the process.

  • We recommend that your puppy comes for its first groom 2 weeks after its last set of vaccinations.

  • The initial grooming session should be short and sweet.

  • Because puppies should be slowly introduced to the sounds and equipment.

  • Groomers would normally start with introduction with a bath, blow dry, brushout, nail trim, ear cleaning, light trim where needed especially the face and sanitary area.

  • Introduction is relaxed and fun giving the puppy breaks, as they need to get used to the sounds, sights and smells of the grooming salon, ensuring future visits are stress free.

FURMINATOR /DESHEDDING TREATMENT?

This treatment helps your dog Shed less - the furminator helps re-move hair from the undercoat, this means less hair on your sofas, floors and clothes.

  • You also benefit from much less hair around the home example upto 90% less shedding of hair.

  • Since each pets coat and rate of hair growth varies, the frequency of deshedding treatment will also vary. We typically recommend treatment every 4-6 weeks, but some customers prefer their pets to be deshedded more frequently example every 4 weeks to prevent the build up of undercoat happening.

WHAT IS A PUPPY CUT?

Puppy cut and Teddy Bear cuts are essentially very similar.

  • This type of cut generally means one length all over the body and legs.

  • Contrary to popular belief, it does not mean any particular coat length, and there may be quite a bit of variance in opinion from groomer to groomer.

  • A Puppy cut really implies that the pet should look cute and cuddly, with hair of a length similar to when they were a puppy.  This can mean anything from 1/2 inch to over one inch long.

  • Puppy cut also refers to the fact that very young puppies are often taken to the groomer to have their faces, feet, and sanitary area trimmed, without touching the rest of the coat. Again this means that the coat could be any length but does generally refers to a longish cut.

KENNEL CUTS?

The Kennel cut has its origin in the idea that when not showing or using a dog in the capacity for which he was original bred, their coat would be kept very short.

  • Short coats are easy to managed and less maintenance can be desired "offseason"

  • Example: Most hunting dogs are kennelled  in the "off season'

  • That is how the expression "kennel cut" was born.

  • The Kennel cut does not indicate a particular length, only short.
